One Works Wins Transport Education Centre International Competition

One Works is the winner of the international competition held by Qatar Rail for the new Transport Education Centre in Doha-Qatar.   The contest's precise goal is to bestow the City with a building symbol of the extraordinary change that is affecting the entire country.   Combining past, present, and future, the Transport Education Centre will tell the story of how Qatar is positioning itself as a country dynamically connected as well as being crucial element at the base of an economic, cultural and social growth for the entire Gulf region, thanks to an ambitious program of integrated transit infrastructure developed on the basis of an important history and knowhow.   Mohamed Timbely, Senior Director of Qatar Rail commented - "One Works has perfectly interpreted the spirit and the goal we set for ourselves from the competition's outset. Their unique experience in transport infrastructure architecture, combined with their ability to interpret it as a founding and strategic element of urban development, and thus social and cultural evolution, allowed the architects to develop a concept for Transportat Education Centre that achieves a perfect synthesis of what Qatar Rail is developing for its Country and architectural and cultural legacy, making the new Transport Education Centre a dynamic and integrated element along the path we are taking."

New Malpensa T2 Station inaugurated last week

With construction works concluded for the new Malpensa Airport T2 station, the new connection between Terminal 1 and 2 will be activated in these days, providing a direct connection to the Terminal 2 operated by Easyjet.   One Works, partner with CREW, was commissioned by SINA to develop the execution phase of the train station, parkings and road accessibility. The project comprises also an access building at the ground level, a multifunctional mezzanine and a connecting shelter.   SEA realized the new infrastructure that is part of a more extensive renovation project of the Malpensa Terminal 2.   "For the Terminal 2 we have an ambitious and challenging renovation project: we are launching the restyling of commercial areas, food & beverage activities and all those spaces dedicated to the passengers" - says Pietro Modiano, SEA’s President (ilgiorno.it)

Within the Master of Science in Architecture “Architectural Design for Complex Constructions Studio I” - held by professors Emilio Battisti, Francesca Battisti and Mauro Marinelli – Leonardo Cavalli will share his expertise in a case study on Transit Oriented Developments during the Seminar “Milano: Railyards Urban Recovery”   The lecture will take place in the Room Z.1, starting from 10.00 to 13-00 am, at the Politecnico di Milano.   Along with Cavalli, Francesco De Agostini “Changing Milano” and Mario Zambrini “Environment Sustainability” will also be guest lecturers.
