Airports for Growth

As scientific coordinator of the Future Development Of The National Airport Network Study, preparatory to the drafting of the National Airports Plan, De Carli called attention to the Council of Ministers Plans recent adoption (September 30th), and the impending discussion at the Regional State Conference, as a crucial tool for the potential positive effects on airport development and the urban districts that receive them.

Topics covered included: the direct relationship between the airports systems within the traffic basins, the role that each airport plays within the system, the network connections for other modes of transport, and diverse urban functions related to airport development.

In this context, the situation in Milan is certainly of great interest, also in view of the forthcoming Expo and the effects of the alliance between Etihad and Alitalia, which will lead to growth in air travel to Italy and consequently development opportunities for Milan.
