One Works calls for strengthened international collaboration to fuel ASEAN Market
2nd September 2019
One Works Managing Partner and PPS One Works Board Director, Giulio De Carli, recently had the pleasure of being invited by the Singapore Business Federation to be the Keynote Luncheon Speaker at the Singapore Regional Business Forum and Singapore Regional Infrastructure Summit - a two-day event that serves as a high-profile, open, neutral, inclusive and constructive platform that brings together top business leaders, senior government officials, think-tanks and policy makers to explore policy planning, economic vision, business and investment-related opportunities in the region.
Themed on “Strengthening Business Collaboration for Regional Connectivity“, Giulio joined the stage with other keynote speakers, such as the Coordinating Minister for National Security Singapore and the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to express the ongoing need for Singapore and the wider ASEAN economies to foster and strengthen international collaborations in order to meet the huge demand for infrastructure.
Highlighting how the ASEAN economies are still thriving and offer a bright light in the gloom, Giulio explained why One Works made the conscious decision to enter into the regional market and how building on the many lessons learnt from the European and Middle Eastern markets, many SMEs – such as One Works - could be of great value to clients, potential partners and stakeholders across the ASEAN region.
To this effect, we established a joint venture partnership with one of Thailand’s oldest and respected professional engineering construction project management company - Project Planning Service Public Company Limited (also known in Thailand as PPS)
Together with PPS, we decided to bring our upstream international architectural and engineering design experiences of complex transportation projects with PPS’ downstream project and construction management expertise to bear through our regional company PPS One Works – a truly one-stop multi-disciplinary Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) firm focussed on delivering infrastructure and PPP projects in Mainland Southeast Asia first and hopefully the rest of ASEAN.”
In recognition of the value PPS One Works could bring to the market, Giulio then shared our experience of recently being invited by the Property Perfect, Thai Air Asia and Christiani & Neilson Consortium to serve as Bid Leaders and Concept Designers for the new U-Tapao International Airport PPP Project in Thailand. The globally recognised project is one of the five (5) mega-projects defined pursuant to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) Development Plan and delivered via a PPP framework and is conceived to be the third major international airport for the Greater Bangkok Area. Linked by High Speed Rail to the existing Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang International Airport, U-Tapao International Airport will become a great Aviation Hub to fuel exponential business expansions with the Eastern Seaboard of Thailand as its nucleus.
Giulio concluded with an enthusiastic message highlighting how the ASEAN community has the potential to truly create the next generation of infrastructure through the exchange of experiences and ideas – to not only bring about well-being in individual countries’ economies but also a region that builds together stays together.
One Works and PPS One Works would once again like to thank the Singapore Business Federation for inviting us to be part of this prestigious event - and it is heartening to see so much enthusiasm from leading authorities and experts from across the market.
We look forward to sharing more insights at the upcoming International Air Rail Transport Summit in November – www.airrailsummit.com
