A spectacular experience of virtual reality, debates, and photography, designed by ONE WORKS and ICA GROUP in collaboration SANLORENZO, to bring the public and industry on board a journey to explore the future of the sea.
A call-to-action that puts innovation and research at the service of protecting the marine environment.
During FuoriSalone 2022, ICA Group and One Works, renew their partnership in the name of sustainability and a shared vision on the value that ingenuity, the capacity for innovation, design, and production that Italian excellence can express, and with the extraordinary collaboration of Sanlorenzo, present “YACHT Sailing Through Design & Technology for a Sustainable Sea”.
From 7 to 10 June at via Sciesa 3 in Milan, the evocative headquarters of global architecture and design firm, One Works, is transformed into a hangar that will host a life-size avatar of Sanlorenzo’s celebrated Yacht SD90/s, which bears the signature of Zuccon International Project for the exterior lines and of Patricia Urquiola for the interior design. The excellence of Italian shipbuilding thus doubles its presence at the FuoriSalone and, in a path characterized by the same strong message that draws attention to environmental impact, leads the public from the shipyard suggestions that emanate from the FABBRICA installation (in the frame of the University of Studies) to the spectacular interactive, virtual reality experience of the new green boat of Sanlorenzo.
Characterizing the SD90/s is a refined search for sustainable and cutting-edge materials, and the use of solutions that optimize efficiency and consumption for enhancing performance, including hybrid propulsion. It is a boat that represents Sanlorenzo sustainability, where research, innovation, and technology, combined with “conscious design for a new future” find maximum expression.
THE “NAVIGANTI” EXHIBITION BY SILVANO PUPELLA
Along each of the aisles at the One Works open space, the social sustainability of craftsmanship that makes Italian shipbuilding unique is immortalized by an evocative photographic exhibition captured through the lens of Silvano Pupella. The “Naviganti” exhibition is a behind-the-scenes journey of the Cantieri Navali Sanlorenzo between “stolen” shots of absolute beauty and bichromies, and plays in contrast with the frontier technology that provides the imposing virtual presence of the SD90/s.
To animate the space of the headquarters, a video montage will present the best design work from students at the IED – European Institute of Design, each engaged in the drafting of a thesis on sustainable boating.
In the name of Italian excellence, visitors will be able to complete the path set up in the One Works headquarters by visiting the Lifelab Discovery – the permanent showroom of ICA Group, a world leader in the innovation of wood and glass coatings. In 50 years of history, ICA Group has made “green research” one of its core assets ensuring the continuous development of cutting-edge products for quality, technological content and reduced environmental impact.
LIVE TALKS: MARINE SUSTAINABILITY AND BEYOND
YACHT Sailing Through Design & Technology for a Sustainable Sea is an event with a strong emotional impact, which from 7 to 10 June, will also provide ample space for knowledge, reasoning, and debate with four live talks. Hosted in the Creative Hub of One Works, each event will see protagonists from across the naval, sports, research and built environment industry, present their ideas and projects in response to the need for greater attention to marine sustainability.
With the virtual tour, photographic exhibition and four talks, the event aims to provide further stimulus towards that necessary and general call to action of which the world has become aware, but on which there is still much to do.
The program is already available; the events will be available in presence by invitation and will be streamed live on all ICA and One Works social channels.
During a recent visit to Mykolaiv in Ukraine, Leonardo Cavalli, Silvia Botti, and Francesca Pintus witnessed the community’s remarkable strength.
