One Works was appointed to develop the Ceramica Lago Masterplan including the transformation of a former industrial site sitting on Lake Maggiore’s shores.
The strength of the masterplan lies in the reconfiguration, of the major part of the accommodation services that occupy the site’s western section. Part of the development included the introduction of the highly anticipated Laveno Tourist Resort and Residential development. The Lot 13 project is composed of three different volumes juxtaposed on top of a street lined base characterized by the restored industrial façade.
All apartments enjoy direct views of the lake, the terraces are conceived as true open-air rooms, and public services face the new waterfront. Great attention has been paid to climatic and environmental issues by adopting active and passive strategies, resulting in high energy efficiency.
Direct and continuous relationship is established between the lake and the upper park along the hillside’s pathway system. The park design is inspired by the lush and varied vegetation that grows on the mountain slopes framing the lake. The park is intended as the principal unifying element that creates a perceptive and physical link between the mountains and the lake.
It is a modern interpretation of the baroque gardens of the nearby Isola Bella and Isola Madre bestowing sunny cultivated terraces, dotted with intimate squares, green walls, bright colourful flowers (Bougainville, Hibiscus and Lantana) that stand on mantles of bright green grass. The park opens onto the lake and is articulated in relation to the functions that are to be performed, partly paved partly not, allowing views of the commercial activities located in the lakefront buildings while offering more contemplative spaces highlighted by large pergolas.
