Sassari Multimodal and Logistic Center

The new suburban bus station is located between the City’s historic center, the railway station, and the Metro Light line. The construction of this Multimodal and Logistic Center becomes critical for the transportation network development and Sassari’s urban systems in general. It is a great resource in support of the Historical Center.

The project makes well use of diverse grade levels with a partially embedded bus station proposal. Hence, a roof garden creates an additional public space from which important buildings service directly or indirectly. A car park accommodating 630 vehicles occupies the two basement floors. The vehicular access, car and bus, flow is facilitated by a tunnel reducing bottlenecks with the general urban traffic. Architectural elements such as the garden, the gallery, the porch, and the staircase define the diverse urban spaces characterised by the different modes of transport.
