Following the successfully completion of the Passenger Terminal refurbishment and extension (LT1) at Venice Marco Polo Airport, One Works has been appointed for the design of LT2B. This next phase is an integral part of the airport’s comprehensive Masterplan, focusing on expanding airside capacity and facilities, now actively under construction.
The recently completed first phase of the new airside extension has added 3,500 sqm of spacious and comfortable areas, catering to the significant increase in Extra Schengen passenger traffic, which currently represents 32% of the airport’s total traffic.
Key features of this extension project include:
“In coherence with the previous extension, this expansion project is driven by the need to combine tradition and innovation in the best way, allowing a smooth dialogue between the iconic architectural features of the existing terminal with the new volumes characterised by more contemporary shapes and materials. In the interiors, graphics and decoration symbolically recall the voyage of Marco Polo, the places seen and the route followed”
Giulio De Carli, One Works Managing Partner
