Oneworks to contribute to transformation of Terminal 1 at Barcelona-El Prat Airport

Oneworks is thrilled to announce its participation, together with partners AYESA and Viarium Ingeniería SL, in the remodelling of Terminal 1 at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN). Appointed by airport operator AENA as a joint venture, we have been awarded a contract for the technical assistance and project drafting phase of this extensive modernisation project.

Aena, the airport operator, is investing 700 million EUR to upgrade the terminal, ensuring it meets current regulatory standards and accommodates the continued growth in passenger traffic. The project focuses on enhancing the passenger experience while improving operational efficiency, sustainability, and energy use. According to preliminary feasibility studies, 70,000 m2 will be added to the terminal, and more than 48,000 m2 of the existing structure will undergo renovation. 

Our team will contribute to key aspects of the project, including:  

• Expanding key passenger areas: This includes check-in, baggage claim, and security control zones, ensuring smoother and more efficient passenger flow. 

• Improving passenger experience: The project will deliver upgrades to conveyor belt systems and enhancements to shopping and dining facilities, as well as improved access roads to the airport, all designed to elevate the overall passenger experience. 

• Prioritising sustainability: We are committed to incorporating energy-efficient solutions and sustainable design principles throughout the project.
