A new airport in Al Baha, Saudi Arabia

The project involves the construction of the new airport in Al Baha, Saudi Arabia, configured on two main levels for a total 15.000 m2. The assignment comprehended all phases of the project, from the masterplan concept to the executive project for tender, verifying and consulting with the Saudi authorities (GACA) the entire approval process.

In the concept design phase, different solutions advanced which took into account the specific environmental conditions, the intervention program, and the diverse types of passengers.

The design solutions sought the maximum flexibility in space use, a condition that has significant advantages especially in small airports. Seen often are boarding lobbies and baggage reclaim halls whose layout allows full Schengen or full extra-Schengen use according to diverse moments of domestic and international passenger peaks.
